2019 _ AMR Workshop

Collaboration: Iona Walker and Dr Zafer Tandogdu through the BEYOND RESISTANCE Network.

Workshop: Festival of Creative Learning, University of Edinburgh, at Ascus Lab 2019

Our Tiny Non-Humans was a hands-on workshop exploring antimicrobial resistance through bioart, discussion, and collaborative making. Held during the University of Edinburgh’s Festival of Creative Learning, the workshop invited participants to encounter bacteria beyond the idea of “germs,” learning about microbes, infection, resistance, and their role in our shared environments.

Participants prepared agar plates, grew environmental samples, and created textile pieces dyed with pigmented bacteria. These individual textiles were then collected and brought together as a collaborative digital quilt, transforming microbial growth into a shared visual record of human–microbe relationships
